Showcase Your Students' Artwork at the Museum

Student artworks are displayed in a popular gathering space on the museum's ground floor.

We invite you to submit your students’ artworks to be considered for display in the windows of the Koret Foundation Education Center, which faces a bustling interior court at the museum. We rotate works on display four times a year, sharing the creativity of Bay Area youth with our many visitors. Each window measures 65 x 85 inches, is equipped with four adjustable shelves, and can accommodate many different media.

We will prioritize applications and artworks that…

  • Highlight voices from cultures not typically featured in the mainstream art canon.
  • Focus on social justice themes.
  • Clearly consider or address cultural appropriation.

The National Art Education Association NAEA Position Statement on Use of Imagery, Cultural Appropriation and Socially Just Practices is a great resource to start with if you have questions about these subjects.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed by the Asian Art Museum School Programs Team and its Teacher Advisory Council. All submissions are assessed with diversity, equity, and inclusion as core values.

Guidelines

  • We accept artwork from K–12+ classrooms and after-school, recreational, and summer programs that serve K–12+ students.
  • Artworks might be relevant to Asian, Asian American, and Asian diaspora stories, art, identity, history, and/or current events. We are also interested in featuring artworks that connect with larger themes that speak to the lived experience of Bay Area immigrant communities from all over the world.
  • Applicants should demonstrate an insightful and culturally competent approach to art education.
